Experience progressively faster zip lines and a variety of tree types on this 3-hour treetop adventure that follows 11 zip lines, 2 sky bridges and 3 rappels as you travel through the trees high above Deerfield River Valley.  You'll enjoy views of the mountains and the river and connect with friendly, professional guides who do all the clipping for you and lead you from tree to tree as you fly through the forest.

Arrive at our base 15 minutes before your start time to register and get ready.  When you enter the base, guides and base staff will help you register.  You will be asked to sign a waiver of liability (minors will need to sign their own and have a parent/guardian sign it as well) and we will check to ensure that you have proper footwear and clothing.  You will be asked to removed dangling jewelry and to wear your hair in a way that keeps it from being an entanglement hazard.
After you've registered, get into your harness and helmet and adjustments will be made to ensure a proper fit.  Then it's up to the practice zip!
A short hike from the base, our practice zip gives you a chance to get comfortable with zipping, braking and self-rescue on a short, low zip line.  Once everyone is checked out and able to safely zip, guides will take you up to the vehicles which will transport you to the top of the course.
A 10-minute 4x4 ride brings you half a mile and 500 feet vertically uphill to the start of the course.  A short hike leads to the first take-off platform.  The first zip is slow and short to give you a chance to acclimate flying through and above the trees.  The second zip leads to a spectacular view of the Deerfield River Valley and the Northern Berkshires as you perch over the edge of the ridge on a 100+ year old pine tree.  As you travel down the course, the zips get longer and faster.
A rappel at the end of the top section of the course leads to a water break and a short downhill hike to the start of the next section.  The lower course consists of sky bridges and longer zips that culminate your adventure in the trees.
A downhill hike leads back to base where you can share stories and memories of the trip and look at photos of yourself zipping just moments before.

Take your family or friends rafting on the Deerfield River's most popular whitewater section, Zoar Gap. With a minimum age of 7, these Class II whitewater rapids with one Class III rapid are ideal for beginner rafters.
Our ten-mile white water rafting trip on Zoar Gap begins at Fife Brook Dam in Florida, Massachusetts. Rapids such as Microwave, Freight Train, and Pinball allow crews to hone their skills in preparation for the exciting class III whitewater of Zoar Gap. Below the Gap, we pull over in a state forest for a delicious picnic-style lunch with salads, homemade breads for sandwiches, and cookies. After lunch there are opportunities to swim or simply relax as we raft back to our basecamp where hot showers and a slide show of the day's adventure await.

The Zoar Gap trip meets at our base in Charlemont, Massachusetts at 10:30 a.m (Be sure to check your confirmation email for the exact meeting time of your trip). Please try to be on time, since we must work within the schedule of water releases. You will be required to read and sign a release of liability at this time. All guests will be required to wear a Zoar Outdoor issued PFD (Personal Flotation Device) and helmet. You will also be provided with a paddle. We raft a ten-mile section of class II and III whitewater on the Deerfield River in Northwestern Massachusetts. We put in below the Fife Brook Dam and finish the trip at our base camp in Charlemont, MA. The trip usually takes 6 hours, including registration, transportation to the river, swimming stops, a picnic lunch served on the river, and a slide show of your run through the biggest rapids. You should expect to spend about 3 to 4 hours on the river.
This trip comes with a picnic-style lunch, and a spread of chips & salsa, hummus or black bean dip, fresh baked rolls with choices of cold cuts and cheeses, as well as lettuce, tomato, condiments, and dessert and a drink. Lunch on this trip may sometimes be served later in the day due to water release times, weather, or other factors beyond our control.

We put in at Ball Mountain Dam, where water is released for the trip. Our first taste of big whitewater comes as we head into Landslide rapid. Several miles of continuous rapids later we meet our biggest challenge at the Dumplings where negotiating the river's natural s-turn pushes each raft's paddling skills to the limit. We stop by the riverside for a brief snack and have opportunities for swimming before taking out below the route 100 bridge. Back at Stratton Mountain a hearty meal of barbecued chicken and a slide show of the trip provide a fitting finale to this unique adventure. Participants on West River trips should be prepared for a fairly strenuous walk down a steep rocky trail at the beginning of the trip.  Participants on this trip may be required to swim aggressively in rocky, fast whitewater.

Enjoy an active vacation in Vermont on the Class III and IV rapids of the West River near Stratton Mountain, one of the state's hidden treasures. This intermediate-level white water rafting trip is an ideal way to  view the fall foliage. We welcome rafters ages 12 and up on this popular Vermont whitewater rafting trip.
Our base of operations for the West River trip is the Main Base Lodge at Stratton Mountain, southern Vermont's premier four-season resort. With an alpine village, full amenities, comfortable accommodations, and a large meeting space, Stratton Mountain is the perfect starting point for a great spring or fall adventure!
For our West River trip, The Wilmington Inn provides trip and local lodging packages. Just visit their website to check pricing and availability.

We use single kayaks daily from May through September. Singles are great for children at least 10 years old and adults under 250 pounds who want the freedom to challenge the river on their own, while doubles give kids as young as 7 an opportunity to share a boat with an adult and enjoy the river. Guides accompany every trip on the river to help you find the correct line and to maximize your river experience.
While these trips are not instructional clinics, they are a wonderful way to explore the Deerfield River with a guide close by to offer support, paddling suggestions and insight into the natural and cultural history of the area.
Featuring both Class I and II rapids, as well as opportunities to swim and splash in the waters of the Deerfield, this trip provides a wonderful afternoon adventure for families, schools, scout and camp groups. We meet at 1:45 pm each day and the trip takes about 3 to 3 1/2 hours, including registration, outfitting and transportation to the river.
